Three Eco-Friendly Wedding Favor Ideas

Wedding planning means making a lot of decisions, about everything big and small, from the photographer to the font on your invitations. You want your wedding to be a reflection of you and your partner, but you also want your guests to have a good time and to know that you appreciate them being a part of your special day.

Wedding favors are a great way to show your guests exactly that: that you value their presence on your special day. To show them how much you care,  you want to make sure you give your guests something that they can appreciate, and not just another plastic trinket to throw away.

Nowadays, there are tons of great options for eco-friendly wedding favors. Your conscience can rest easy knowing that you’ve chosen something your guests can use and that won’t hurt the environment, either! These three options are just a start — there are plenty more out there.

Mini Succulents

Succulents have been all the rage for a while now, and for good reason. They’re adorable, making them a great wedding favor (that double as decorations!) and they’re hardy. As long as they get plenty of sunlight, mini cacti and succulents will flourish.

You can easily buy succulents from your local nursery and pot them any way you like. Placing succulents in glass jars adds a spot of modern décor to your overall wedding decorations. Or you can go with a classic terracotta pot look. Choose what makes you happiest for your big day!

Bamboo Straws

The great straw debate has been going on for years now, but there’s one thing we know for certain: anything is better than plastic. Whether you like metal, glass, paper, or bamboo, any of the reusable options is better for the environment than plastic.

Bamboo straws may or may not be in the budget for your wedding favors, but if you buy them in bulk the price can be manageable. You can even get them personalized if you choose to!

Birdseed Cake Ornaments

If mini succulents and bamboo straws just don’t sound like you and your partner, then birdseed cake ornaments could be a better option. All your guests have to do is hang them up in a tree and enjoy the sight of the birds feasting on the treat!

Birdseed ornaments can also add to your wedding décor, especially if you purchase them in a heart shape and add on a cute tag with you and your partner’s initials. They create almost no waste and they’re affordable in large quantities.

It’s not always easy to find a wedding favor that your guests will love and want to keep forever. An eco-friendly option helps the environment and can add to your décor. If none of these three options work for you, keep searching – there are plenty out there, and one will match your wedding style!
